HIGHER EDUCATION EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND

Description: On March 31, 2020 the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law. The CARES Act has provided higher education emergency relief funding to two- and four-year institutions nationwide to assist students who are experiencing financial hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) authorized additional funding for HEERF. Students who are currently enrolled in credit courses at Wor-Wic Community College in the fall 2021 are eligible to apply for the higher education emergency relief funding to assist with course materials, housing, food, health care, childcare, and other related expenses. Students may also request technology assistance.

Application:
• Students must complete the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund application in its entirety in order to be considered for higher education emergency grant funding.

Eligibility Requirements
• Applicant must be enrolled as a credit student. Dual enrollment students and students enrolled in continuing education & workforce development courses are not eligible to complete this application.

Award Amounts
• Students who apply for higher education emergency relief funding to assist with course materials, housing, food, health care, child care, and other related expenses may request up to $1,000.
• Students who apply for higher education emergency relief funding to assist with technology related expenses may request up to $1,000.
• If a student requests reimbursement for a laptop purchase they must supply the Financial Aid Office with a copy of the purchase receipt prior to the Higher Education Emergency Relief – Technology funds being disbursed to the student account. Reimbursement is only eligible for the purchase of a laptop. Students cannot be reimbursed for the purchase of a tablet or another similar device.
• Award amounts may be prorated based on number of credits enrolled.

Funding is limited. All applications will be processed in the order in which they were received. Eligibility determination notifications will be sent to the student email account. If higher education emergency relief funding is offered, the student will need to accept the funding offer by following the link in the eligibility determination notification email or by logging in to their application.
